UPDATE Montefiore Nurses Rally to Oppose Planned Cuts

Montefiore Bronx-based nurses held a rally organized by the NYS Nurses Association on Friday, Feb. 28, at 111 East 210th Street in Norwood, outside the private hospital group’s Moses campus. They said their goal was “to save hospital beds and services, and end overcrowding in the emergency departments and hospital floors at Montefiore Moses and Weiler.” The Montefiore Weiler campus is located in Morris Park.

Bronx Basketball Player Proves to be the Sharpest 3-Point Shooter in 3V3 Tournament

Twelve-year-old Crystal, a student attending Boston Secor Community Center’s “Roads to Success” cornerstone program in Easchester, proved to be the sharpest 3-point shooter during a basketball shoot-out contest held on Feb. 20 at The Post in Brooklyn. The event was part of the Roads to Success Annual Basketball 3V3 Tournament, which brought together middle school students from The Bronx, Harlem and Brooklyn.

New York City F.C. beat Orlando City S.C. 2-1 at Yankee Stadium on Saturday night, March 8, in their first win of the 2025 regular season of Major League Soccer, delighting throngs of New York City fans who had traveled from all across The Big Apple to attend the game. Decked out in fan club gear and scarves to cheer on the home side, thousands were seen leaving the stadium in jovial form after the exciting clash, as Orlando fans were left hoping their team will have their revenge in Florida on July 16.

Fordham Heights: Missing Bronx Woman Found Dead Near Yonkers Strangled Court Hears

The missing 26-year-old woman, Pamela Alcántara Rubiera, of 2200 Morris Avenue in Fordham Heights, who was found dead inside a suitcase on a highway near Yonkers on Thursday, March 6, died of homicidal asphyxiation according to evidence presented in court by the Bronx District Attorney’s office on Saturday evening, March 8.

Ocasio-Cortez Introduces Bipartisan Bill to Cap Credit Card Interest Rates at 10%

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), a Democrat, and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13), a Republican representing Florida, introduced legislation that would immediately cap credit card interest rates at 10%. U.S. Senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT), an independent representing Vermont, and Josh Hawley (R-MO), a Republican representing Missouri, introduced companion legislation last month in the Senate.

For those of us with complex health conditions that curb our movement, and often frustratingly confine us to our homes, our world and social circles get smaller and smaller as we age.

UPDATE Fordham Heights: Boyfriend Charged in Murder of Missing Woman 26

Police said Thursday, March 6, that as part of an investigation into a missing person’s case involving a person reported missing from 2200 Morris Avenue in Fordham Heights, the body of a woman has been discovered in Westchester County. They said they have opened a homicide investigation following the discovery though they have not identified if the body found is that of the missing woman.
